Keep It CleanBefore wearing or removing your contacts, always wash your hands with soap and water and pat them dry. This ensures that your eyes and contacts don't get layered with any dust or lint particles when you touch them. After removing your contact lenses, clean them as per your doctor's instructions before putting them back in their case.
Keep It Fresh
Things are better when they're fresh, including lenses. Change your contact lenses as per the schedule set by your eye doctor. Make sure you always keep your eye appointments. When you wear lenses past their due date, you can create problems for your eye and overall health in a number of ways. A thin film of dust and dirt can form between the lenses and eyes, leading to foggy vision and other problems. Your body's immune system can also be affected due to the build-up of foreign substances in the eye. On the other hand, if you change your contacts according to schedule, you may never experience these problems.
Wear Them Right
Before wearing your contacts, check to ensure they're right side out. Then, if you're right-handed, start with your right eye. Pick up the lens in your right hand. Pull down the lower eye-lid with your left hand, look up, and insert the contact lens from the lower part of the eye. Then insert the lens in your left eye.
Visit Your Doctor
If you experience constant irritation, pain, swelling, dryness, or excess water in your eyes, contact your doctor immediately. Treating your symptoms is okay, but never try to self-medicate.
Eat Well & Stay Fit
Make sure you eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly for overall good health. When you're outside, wear your sunglasses to protect your eyes from dust and the harmful UV rays of the sun.
